The Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department has announced admission for the Four-Year Undergraduate Programs (FYUGP) and 5-Year Integrated Postgraduate (PG) Programs for the academic session 2025-2026. The admission portal is now live for both CUET (UG) Students and Non CUET (UG) students.

All major universities in Jammu and Kashmir are giving undergraduate (UG) admissions under CUET (UG) exam. Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) is a exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions to different programmes. Those students appeared in CUET (UG) exam have now to register on JK Admissions official portal.

Students who missed CUET (UG) 2025 exam can also register on JK admissions portal as non CUET student. Admission to these students will be given based on their 12th exam marks.

Key Features of the Programs

  • Program Types: Four-Year Undergraduate Programs (FYUGP) and 5-Year Integrated PG Programs.
  • Exit Options: Students can exit after completing each year with corresponding credentials:
    • 1st Year: Certificate
    • 2nd Year: Diploma
    • 3rd Year: UG Degree
    • 4th Year: UG Degree with Honours/Research
  • Postgraduate Progression:
    • Students completing a 3-year UG degree can pursue a 2-year PG program in their Major or Minor discipline.
    • Those completing a 4-year Honours program can opt for a 1-year PG program.
    • Students with a 4-year Honours with Research degree are eligible for direct PhD admissions, subject to university guidelines.
  • Institution Types:
    • CUET Colleges (Annexure A and C): Primarily admit based on CUET scores in the first phase, with leftover seats filled based on 10+2 merit.
    • Non-CUET Colleges (Annexure B): Admit based on 10+2 merit, open to all eligible candidates regardless of CUET participation.

Admission Timeline

The admission process will be done through multiple rounds, with specific timelines for registration, preference filling, document verification, seat allotment, and fee payment. All timelines are subject to the declaration of CUET (UG) results by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Eligibility and Registration

Who Can Apply?

  • All candidates who have passed their Class 12 (10+2) examination from the J&K Board of School Education, CBSE, or any recognized board are eligible.
  • The process is open to both CUET participants and non-CUET participants.

Registration Process

  • Portal: Register on https://jkadmission.samarth.ac.in/ between June 16, 2025 (5:00 PM) and July 7, 2025 (7:00 PM).
  • No Registration Fee: Registration on the Samarth Portal is free.
  • Documents Required (scanned copies in PDF/JPG format, not exceeding 1 MB each):
    • Class 12th Marks Card
    • Class 10th Marks Card
    • NTA-CUET Registration Number (if applicable)
    • Recent passport-size photograph(s)
    • Aadhar Number
    • Domicile Certificate (if available)
    • Category Certificate (if applicable; incomplete certificates will not be accepted)

Preference Filling

  • When: July 3 – July 9, 2025.
  • Process: After CUET results are declared, aspirants must submit preferences for:
    • Section A (CUET): For CUET-based colleges (Annexure A and C). Only CUET participants can fill this section.
    • Section B (Non-CUET): For Non-CUET colleges (Annexure B). Open to all aspirants.
  • Important Note: Preferences cannot be changed once submitted. Aspirants are advised to visit Counselling and Facilitation Centers at degree colleges to ensure accurate form submission.

Seat Allotment Process

Round 1 (July 11 – July 15, 2025)

  • CUET Colleges: Seats allotted based on CUET scores.
  • Non-CUET Colleges: Seats allotted based on 10+2 merit.
  • Aspirants must confirm admission by paying the full course fee online or opt for an upgrade by paying Rs. 2000 by July 15, 2025.

Round 2 (July 17 – July 20, 2025)

  • Allotment of leftover and upgraded seats for both CUET and Non-CUET colleges.
  • Aspirants must confirm admission by paying the full course fee online. No upgrade option is available.

Round 3 (July 23 – July 26, 2025)

  • CUET Colleges: Leftover seats allotted based on 10+2 merit.
  • Non-CUET Colleges: Colleges allot seats based on 10+2 merit.
  • Aspirants must confirm admission by paying the full course fee online.

Spot Round (July 28 – July 31, 2025)

  • On-campus admission for leftover seats in all colleges (Annexure A, B, and C) based on 10+2 merit.
  • Candidates must visit the college to check seat availability and confirm admission on the spot.
  • If applications exceed available seats, colleges will create an instant merit list based on 10+2 marks, adhering to the minimum cut-off rules set by the Higher Education Department.
  • Note: Students who have already secured admission by paying fees are not eligible for the Spot Round.

The University of Jammu offers specialized programs at its main and off-site campuses, including:

  • Bhaderwah Campus:
    • JU Bachelor of Computer Applications (Data Science)
    • JU Bachelor of Management Studies (BBA)
  • Kathua Campus:

  • Institute of Music & Fine Arts (IMFA):
